My Best Friend FOREVER!

I recently read "They say true friends can go long periods of time without speaking and never question their friendship. These types of friends just pick up just like they spoke yesterday, regardless of how long it has been or how far they live - are you lucky enough to have a friend like this?" Well I AM....Teresa Vigil was my best friend my ENTIRE school years. We lived together- we just took turns at whose house we stayed at. We slept over on school nights and everything. I honestly don't have one memory without her in it. She helped me get in trouble and she always got me out of trouble. She was the one who was with me through EVERY boyfriend, she picked up all the pieces to my life. She was the funniest person I ever knew (she holds the record of who made me pee my pants the most times in my life)! She helped me get in my pants that were so pegged I couldn't get them on by myself. She is the reason Brad and I are together too! He was so shy, and she would beg him to talk to me and ask him, "when are you going to kiss her?" If it wasn't for Teresa, I am SURE I wouldn't be with him today! When I started dating Brad, as a junior, I spend more time with him and less with friends, we drifted a part with the things that we did. She went away to Utah State and I went to BYU for a semester. I got married a few years before her, but she was my maid of honor. And she moved away, she was in Idaho, Wyoming, and Colorado with her husband, Trevis. But we always kept in touch, it would be years sometimes but I always knew how she was doing and what she was doing. Then a few years ago she had a stroke! And I think we both decided that we would never let time or distance keep us apart. She is the GREATEST person in the world. I love her and miss her dearly. We keep up on facebook and text too. I LOVE technology! Anyway to get to the post---- She turned 40 in May but we couldn't get together until June to celebrate. I tried to get some other friends that we were close to growing up but they weren't able to make it (Diann, Kim Thomas, Michelle Gulbranson, Tina, Jody and Cathy) Her sister, Corrie came and Kristi came and up until she got married it was the 3 of us! Paula and Theresa went through elementary school with us too! and KyAnn and Pleshette went to high school with us. We had a BBQ and a little party! Everytime I see her I ask her when she is moving to Utah?!? I hope soon! I love her and I MISS her daily!

TREK Training....Really?

This is Lori and I celebrating us LEAVING...it was so dark and the flash was so bright. We laughed all the way home!! Look how UGLY we are...we were so wet and FREEZING. It was a huge relief to be going HOME!

4 Years ago, Brad and I went on Trek - which is the youth and leaders of the stake reenacting pioneer crossing the plains. We both LOVED it! We were both adult children, which means we were placed with separate families to help the youth. We had to do all the things the kids were expected to do, i.e. pull the cart, the ma's and pa's are not suppose to do this, its to toughen up the youth and give them a spiritual experience - which is an understatement! It was one the best experiences both of us had ever had - it was hard, I lost 3 toe nails and physically it was exhausting and spiritually it was amazing! We go on Trek once every 4 years...so this is the year- and Brad and I were called to be Ward Coordinators- which is like a full-time job, but fun to get to work with the youth of our ward to prepare. AND we are also Ma and Pa's which means, we will get 9 youth and 1 adult child and we will be a 'family' for 4 days as we pull a hand-cart across the barren land of Utah. Since we had been on Trek before, we were also called to be trainers when just the adults went to get a feel of how the REAL Trek will go. HOLY CRAP...we knew the weather was going to be bad and Lori kept saying they need to cancel it... and I said, "too many took off work" I knew they wouldn't cancel :( So we had to take tent and we set them up to see which would work??? Which do you want to stay in? the one without a zipper that stands, or the other? Well, we took neither...we borrowed one and it rained and rained and all the tents were taking in water. It was HORRIBLE! Dean Garrett came up to me before we even started to pull and said, "do you want a comb?" He is BALD! The wind and rain DIDN'T let up! Finally at 9 PM they said we were cancelling and we could leave....I have never been so happy in my life. Our borrowed tent had so much water in it, Brad had just gone to get the truck so we could in the back of it and I told him we were leaving...he thought I was lying?!? I hope the youth LOVE it and know that SOOOOO many people have put in HOURS and HOURS of work to pull this off! We are working with the BEST people in the stake and it has been a huge blessing in our lives. We are excited to go with the youth, they are much more fun then the adults...haha.

aaaahhhh Sundays!

I love Sunday's! We get to sleep in, go to church together and then we always go to my mom's for dinner. ALWAYS on Sunday evenings we spend time with our good friends and neighbors. Sometimes its just us and the Adams', but in the summer we can have half of the ward on our front lawns. This was a great Sunday evening hanging out watching the NBA finals, playing guitar hero, playing with the Adams' fat dog, Roxy! GOOD TIMES!

Memorial Weekend

Grandma Alaina and Grandpa Dennis love the tradition they have set to spend this ONE weekend together with their 6 kids and all the grand kids. But of course it really never works that EVERYone actually comes... Well we all do our best to come and they always have fun things planned and activities for each day. Saturday we were going to go to their house and play in the yard and have a water fight and water games...but Mother Nature ruined that plan, so instead we went to Eric and Barb's church and played games, EVEN grandpa played - I got pictures, but they are not good because they were taken with my phone. We played soccer, kick ball and basketball. We had a lot of fun, but Egan and his family didn't make it to Saturday's activities (he had just gotten home from Afghanistan) - neither did Stockton, he was out of town with a friend, and Brock was playing in a tournament. Then we went to Barnes park and fed the ducks and played at the park, then went to their house and ate and played there for a while. Then Sunday we have dinner together and watched a movie, the kids just play and have a great time. They never are all together, so it is nice to see them be with cousins. Grandma had gift bags with yo-yo's and all kinds of fun things and they LOVED it. Monday they all went to the Bountiful pool, but our family went out on the boat- we just HAD to. Sara went with grandpa and the other kids to the pool - it was a great weekend too bad the weather wasn't great, OH WELL - we are looking forward to SUMMER!
